Usage Limits

Do Browser's usage limits are based on how much the AI processes (called tokens), not how long you have the app open. You can leave Do Browser running all day — you're only using your allowance when the AI is actively working on a task.

How Limits Work

Every time Do Browser performs a task, the AI reads the page content, thinks through the steps, and takes action. Each of these steps uses a small amount of your allowance. Bigger or more complex tasks use more; simple tasks use less.

Limits reset every 5 hours, so even if you hit your limit, you won't have to wait long before you can get back to work.

Checking Your Usage

You can see how much of your current allowance you've used at any time:

1. Open Do Browser and click the Settings icon.
2. Look for the Usage section — it shows your current usage and when your next reset happens.

Plans

Standard Plan — $25/month

The Standard plan includes generous usage limits that cover normal, everyday use. Most users never hit their limit on this plan.

Max Plan — $100/month

The Max plan includes 4× more usage than Standard. This is a good fit if you're running Do Browser frequently throughout the day or automating large, complex tasks.

What Happens When You Hit Your Limit

If you reach your limit, Do Browser will let you know. You have a few options:

• Wait for the reset — your allowance resets every 5 hours.
• Bring your own API key — connect your own AI provider to bypass limits entirely. See AI Providers for a quick setup guide.
• Upgrade your plan — if you're on Standard, the Max plan gives you 4× the capacity.

Bring Your Own Key = No Limits

If you connect your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter, Do Browser's built-in limits don't apply at all. You'll be billed directly by the AI provider based on your actual usage. Head over to AI Providers to get started.

Common Questions

"I barely used it — why am I at my limit?" Some tasks are more complex than they seem. If the AI needs to read a lot of page content (large tables, long documents), it uses more of your allowance per task. Try breaking big tasks into smaller steps.

"Does leaving Do Browser open use my allowance?" No. Usage is only counted when the AI is actively running a task. Having the extension open and idle uses nothing.

"I upgraded my plan but my limit didn't change." Plan changes may take a few minutes to take effect. Try closing and reopening the extension. If it still looks wrong, reach out to sawyer@dobrowser.io.
